Introduction
During the search of a suspect’s home, officers recovered several digital devices and a distinctive rope believed to match one seen in indecent imagery. The rope was seized. The devices were seized. Now came the question: was the same rope caught on camera?
For a Digital Media Investigator working on a child exploitation case, linking a physical object to digital evidence would mean proving the suspect’s involvement beyond doubt.

From a Rope into a Lead
The investigator took a photo of the rope and selected a portion of it to define as a search query. Using visual search, S21 LASERi‑X scanned the imagery for matching visual traits: colour, texture, shape, and pattern.
